Indeterminate Tomatoes

 

Indeterminate varieties of tomatoes will grow and produce fruit until killed by frost if properly cared for. They will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit throughout the growing season.  They require substantial caging and/or staking for support and pruning and the removal of suckers is practiced by many but is not mandatory.

Brandywine  -- 78 Days. Indeterminate. Heirloom tomatoes are known for their great eating quality and Brandywine is one of the best. It has very large fruit with deep pink skin and pink-red flesh. The potato leaf plant is not a heavy yielder but makes up for it with flavorful fruit. As with most heirlooms, disease resistance is lacking.

Better Boy F1  -- 75 Days. Indeterminate.  Produces heavy yields of large, deep globe-shaped red fruit.  Foliage gives good fruit protection and it can be staked. Good disease resistance.

Tomato Big Beef F1 --73 Days. Indeterminate.  Produces large, 10-12 oz. fruit. Is rated high for quality and flavor, and it does best when staked or caged. Intermediate resistance to V (race 1), F (races 1&2), Alternaria stem canker, gray leaf spot, RN, and tomato mosaic virus.

Rutgers 82 Days. Known for crack resistant tomatoes of mild flavor, this variety has a medium-large indeterminate vine that performs best on stakes or a trellis. Resists Al, F1 & Vt.   This is a good variety for paste or canning.

Tumbling Tom Red F1  -- 65 days. Indeterminate.  A specialty tomato variety that was bred to be grown and marketed in hanging baskets. The cascading branches produce great yields of 1-2 in. slightly oval-shaped fruit. One plant will fill a 12-15 in. basket.

Supersweet 100 F1 70 Days. Indeterminate.. This large plant yields an incredible number of the best tasting bite-sized cherry tomatoes!  These get high praise for their sweetness and high Vitamin C content.

Burpee’s Big Boy Hybrid Tomato –78 days. Indeterminate.  The fruits weigh in 10-16 ounces. Healthy, indeterminate vines produce all summer long.

 

Determinate Tomatoes

Determinate varieties of tomatoes are varieties that are bred to grow to a compact height (approx. 4 feet).  They stop growing when fruit sets on the terminal or top bud, and ripen all their crop usually over a 2 week period, and then die.  They may require a limited amount of caging and/or staking for support, should NOT be pruned or "suckered" as it severely reduces the crop, and will perform relatively well in a container (minimum size of 5-6 gallon).

Celebrity F1 - 75 Days.  Determinate. This a vigorous, high-yielding  mid-early and has a long picking period. The large, deep oblate fruit are smooth, firm and red.  Celebrity offers home garden eating quality.

Mountain Fresh Plus F1 --78 Days. Determinate.  Large determinate vines offer good cover and produce good yields of extra-large fruit. Resistant to Nematodes,V1, F1 and F2.

Amelia VR F1 -- 75 Days.  Determinate . Bred primarily for the Southeastern US, Amelia VR produces large to extra-large fruit on vigorous vines. Resistance to Fusarium wilt (races 1, 2 and 3), and  Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus.

Security 28 F1 --70 Days. Determinate.  Medium-sized plants produce extra-large, round, dark red fruit with excellent taste. SecuriTY 28 is adapted to southern plantings and has resistance to V (1), F (1,2), Gray leaf spot and Alterneria stem canker, and Yellow Leaf Curl Virus.

Red Bounty F1-- 76 Days. Determinate.  This large to extra-large fruited beauty has great resistance to Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus.

BHN-543 - 72 Days.  Determinate. This a vigorous, high-yielding  Firm Fruit with Good Flavor.

BHN-961 - 74 Days.  Determinate. This a vigorous, high-yielding  Firm Fruit with Outstanding  Flavor.

Tomato Roma VF - 80 Days. Here’s the old standard pear-shaped variety for paste and juice. Large determinate plants spread out the harvest period, but total yield is heavy. The Roma tomato has a relatively high viscosity and soluble solids for thick, red sauce, and its firm texture works well in salads.

Valley Girl  -- 65 Days. Determinate.   This Early Maturing, productive, flavorful tomato has been a top yielder in numerous areas.  Growers report that Valley Girl continues producing longer than other early varieties. Our best early variety for fruit set under temperature stress.

Marglobe – 75 Days Determinate. One of the first disease resistant strains with a good resistance to Verticillium and Fusarium wilt. The red, smooth and solid fruits are crack resistant and 6-8 ounces in size.

Green Romaine Lettuce—54 days. Green Romaine lettuce has very tightly packed leaves. They are frost tolerant and have a great dark green color. Green Romaine heads grow to about 8" tall.

Great Lakes Lettuce –82 days. This lettuce produces a large firm, crisop head with excellent flavor. Perfect for salads. Plant 12 inches apart.

Pepper Cayenne Long Slim - 72 Days. Cayenne Long Slim has been a dependable producer for years. Tall, bushy plants produce heavy yields of wrinkled, long slim fruit that are very hot. The fruit are thin walled and ripen from green to a fiery red. Use for hot sauces, drying, decoration and dehydration.

Pepper Habanero --90 Days. One of the most pungent hot peppers and very late maturing. The productive plants support large numbers of thin-fleshed, wrinkled fruit that turn from light green to golden orange at maturity. These peppers are roughly 2 in. long x 1½ in. wide and are used both fresh or dried. Use care in handling seed and fruit!

Pepper Jalapeno M --75 Days. An improved thick-walled Jalapeno pepper with the same fiery hot pungency.  The 3½ in. x 1 in. slightly tapered, sausage-shaped fruit are very smooth and deep green turning red. Heavy yields are produced on upright plants.

Pepper Senorita F1 --60 Days. This Jalapeno pepper offers wonderful jalapeno flavor but is not nearly as hot as others. Mild 3" x 1.5" fruit turn green to red on erect 28" plants. It’s a heavy yielder and has intermediate resistance to TEV, PVY, and pepper mottle virus.

Pepper Telica F1-- 75 Days. Telica is an extra-large jalapeno that offers tolerance to BLS (races 1,2,3). Strong, tall pepper plants produce excellent yields of large fruit that measure 4.75" x 1.75". The fruit have an attractive shiny, dark green color and thick walls. Telica has shown good adaptability throughout the U.S and also has intermediate resistance to TMV and PVY.

 

Sweet

Pepper Alliance F1 -- 70 Days. Alliance pepper offers the best disease package of any variety we now offer. With resistance to BLS (1,2,3,5),PVY, PYMV, TMV and PMV, and intermediate resistance to CMV, you have the protection you need to help ensure good yields. Large to extra-large fruit that have thick walls and an attractive green color are produced on strong plants and ripen to red.

Pepper Calwonder -- 72 Days. Here’s the old standard for open-pollinated bell peppers. It doesn’t yield with the hybrids, but its fruit are thick-fleshed, dark green and blocky. Best suited to areas with warm nights & a long growing season. A popular bedding plant item.

Pepper New Ace F1-- 65 Days. New Ace has been a standard early variety for many years. It’s one of the very earliest peppers to mature and has been a consistent producer of good yields, even when others have not set fruit because of hot weather. Its 3-4 lobed fruit have medium thick walls and are sweet and tender. A good pepper for early market and bedding plant sales.

Pepper Sweet Banana-- 72 Days. Long pointed yellow fruit make this variety look like a hot pepper, but its flesh is sweet. Sweet Banana is about 6" long, pointed, and light yellow turning to bright red. This pepper has always been popular for frying and pickling.
